Many lifejackets used at Cantabs are manually inflated by pulling on a lanyard which releases CO2 into the jacket.  Before using this type of lifejacket, you should check that it has a CO2 cylinder installed:

1. Open the velcro strip at the front of the lifejacket.

2. You should see an assembly which includes a CO2 cylinder, the firing mechanism and a lanyard with a toggle.

3. The CO2 cylinder should be screwed into the firing mechanism.

4. The lifejacket should have been inspected in the last 12 months, as documented in its Service Label

5. When you close up the velcro, ensure that the inflation toggle is accessible at the bottom of the lifejacket.
