Another course record for the Senior Women

Lured by the prospect of winning a magnum of champagne if they were to break the course record which was set in a strong tailwind in 2008, the Senior Women’s Squad sent a crew to Sunday’s Champs Eights Head for the first time in a few years.

Despite a headwind and stream after several days of heavy rain and some last minute crew changes due to injury the crew clocked 5:06.8, beating the old course record by 0.8 seconds and well clear of all other women’s crews.

Cox Esther Momcilovic, Jordan Bruce, Ellie Darlington, Harriet Cross, Bailee Stratton, Georgia Vann – from the crew which won the Provincial Pennant at WEHoRR back in March – Alice Brownjohn, Emma Dalrymple and Merodie Rose were also recipients of the ‘best start’ award, winning them a bottle of prosecco each to go with their magnum of champagne!

Cantabs also chalked up a win in the women’s novice eights, beating City of Cambridge to the title.
