The National Junior Indoor Rowing Championships was held on Friday 2rd March 2012, filling the Lee Valley Athletics Centre with 1,670 competitors from around the country.
Competitors from Cantabs gave accomplished performances in the Boys Boat Race Relay event and the Year 10 Boys Event:
- The Boat Race Relay involved teams of 8 rowers who row 6780 (the length of the Boat Race course) in relay, with each person rowing twice. The Hills Road Sixth Form crew of James Cleary, Klaus Brumann, Callan Swanson, Doug Chamley, Rob Scott, James Stott, Alex Adrienne and Matt Brown finished 11th in this event, with a combined time of 20:52.8.
- The format of the Year 10 Boys competition was attempting to row the greatest distance in 5 minutes. John Broadbent came 19th out of 136 competitors, having rowed 1480m (an average split of 1:46.5).
