Double wins at Bedford

There were two wins for Cantabs in a successful day at a very wet Bedford Autumn Small Boats Head on Sunday 14th October. Cecile Auty-Jacklin and her daughter Esther won Women’s Double Sculls (Band 2) with a time of 08:33, beating crews from Star, Lea and Norwich School on the tricky 2km 8 bridge course. Cecile was also successful with David Richardson in Mixed Masters E Double Sculls, with their time of 08:11 beating their younger opponents from Stratford-upon-Avon, Bedford and Isle of Ely, even before age-adjustments were applied. David and Cecile were hoping to make it a full house in Open Masters E Double Sculls, but came home in second place behind a very quick Star crew.  They did however manage to beat crews from Sudbury, Oundle and Auriol Kensington.

Despite the poor weather, over 400 crews competed in seven divisions.
