There was good racing from the Aquaphobes on Saturday 26th February, as they finished 5th overall at Norwich Head in the long course to be the fastest masters 8+ overall. This set up Cantabs for a good weekend of racing, with two events on the Sunday.

Sunday kicked off with the Junior Squad racing, resulting in the J14 1x being added to the Cantabs crews who will be representing the Eastern Region at the Junior Inter Regional Regatta in April. The WJ16 4- and WJ15 4+ have also qualified, after putting in good performances at Bedford Head the previous weekend where the junior girls also enjoyed a win in the J15 4+ and second in the Women’s Club 8+ and WJ16 8+ events.

There was also junior racing at Hammersmith Head, with the J16 girls enjoying their first Tideway experience, and putting in a commendable performance to finish as the 4th fastest J16 8+ of the day, only 7 seconds behind 2nd place Latymer Upper who train on the Tideway.

The juniors were joined by the Senior Women on the Tideway, with the Women’s Championship 8+ finishing 5th overall and the fastest non-Tideway crew of the day. The Women’s Intermediate 8+ had a great race and won their event, overtaking 3 crews along the way in what was the first Tideway race for several of the crew. This was the 2nd time in a row that Cantabs has won the event in 2 racing years, after winning in 2019 when the race last ran.
