Intermediate Women’s Squad

As the name suggests, the Intermediate Women’s Squad sits comfortably between the Progression Squad and Senior Squad. Some of our members have worked their way from Learn to Row through the Progression Squad to us, and others join us having rowed at other clubs. We range in age and experience, but all have the same high level of enthusiasm for achieving the best results we can.

We currently have 4 water outings per week (1 outing Wednesday evening, 2 outings on Saturday morning, 1 outing on Sunday morning) and aim to complete 2 sessions of land training per week. We tend to do these in our own time, or some of us meet in small groups to share the pain/love!

We’re fortunate to benefit from the best coaching provision of all the Cambridge town clubs. Our water sessions are coached by Will Cherry, and we have some fantastic coxes. You can read more about our women’s squad coaches here.

As well as the more serious rowing side, we also like to have fun! This includes dressing up for races, pub visits, brunches, film nights and squad meals, as well as the other club-wide social activities such as quizzes, annual dinner, hog roasts and pub crawls.

The highlights of our rowing year include lots of on-Cam races such as:

  • Winter League: Women’s Club B 8+ winners in 2019
  • Town Bumps: Blades in 2017
  • Christmas Head: Fancy dress winners 2016, W8+ winners in 2018 (dressed as Pigs in Blankets!)
  • City Sprints: W8+ winners 2018

We also like to venture off-Cam, and have raced at Peterborough Regatta, WEHORR, Vets Fours Head, Quintin Head, Nottingham Regatta, and we have plans to race at Henley Masters Regatta for the first time in 2019.
