Men’s Squads

Cantabs run a number of men’s squads encompassing everything from social rowers to athletes targeting major regatta wins. There are a number of training groups operating at any time, with flexibility available in each so there is always something to cover everyone. The Intermediate and Senior squads are always looking to take in and develop more athletes.

Senior Men

The Senior Men’s Squad has been growing in strength and numbers in the last 5 years and retained the Headship at Town Bumps for the 4th year in a row this year.

The Senior Men’s Squad complete between 9 and 12 sessions a week with a number of ergo, weights and circuit sessions in addition to water work at the Cantabs boat house.

The club fleet has grown in recent years and we can now provide top quality equipment for use by the Senior Men’s Squad. Recent purchases include a new Filippi 8+, 4- and 2-.

If you are a sculler or small boats rower then you are welcome to train with the Senior or Intermediate Men’s Squads even if you intend to compete in your single or pair/double over the course of the year. The club has number of high quality singles for use by club members and we have racking available at our boat house for private sculls (subject to availability).

Intermediate Men

Feeding into our Senior Squad, is our Intermediate Squad. The Intermediates complete between 4 and 6 sessions per week including ergs and weights as well as water sessions.

Intermediate men celebrate after bumping this year

At Town Bumps this year, the Intermediate Men’s Squad crew bumped up 2 places.

Casual rowing

There are also numerous squads for oarsmen who take a more relaxed approach to training which compete at local and national races. These can be joined by anyone with experience of rowing, of any age.

Masters rowing

The club also has a Masters Men’s Performance Squad, which continues to gather momentum and expand. They enter local and national races, including Veterans’ Head of the River and the British Rowing Masters Championships.
