Multiple wins at Peterborough Head

Saturday 4th February saw Cantabs send 7 crews to Peterborough to compete at the Head of the Nene. Racing was held over two divisions, with divisions 1 and 2 being over a 2500m course and division 3 over 5000m.

Two single scullers were entered into division 1. Hadi Boukhatmi of the Senior Men’s Squad put in a strong performance to finish as the fastest man by 12 seconds, winning IM2.1x. The Senior Women’s Squad‘s Georgie Plunkett did well to finish 2nd in W.IM2.1x (3rd fastest W1x) after a recent illness.

The winning W.IM2.8+

A large Hills Road junior contingent competed in division 2, with Edward Crampton, Finlay Beauchamp, Robert Oxford-Pope, Samuel Gibbs and cox Ben Whitelaw winning IM3.4+. A Hills NOV.4+ finished 3rd in their event.

In division 3, the Senior Women’s Squad once again put in a strong performance and won W.IM2.8+ 29 seconds clear of Nottingham in 2nd and fastest W8+ overall. Cox Leanne Fiddian steered Anita Holender, Cecilia Collins-Taylor, Merodie Rose, Bailee Stratton, Alice Brownjohn, Hannah Stewart, Sarah Inskip and Judith Weik through several overtakes of men’s crews, with their overall time faster than six men’s eights.

In the same division, the Hills fours combined and finished 2nd in J18A.8+, with a second crew finishing 3rd.
