Scullers Head success

On Saturday 26th November, 488 single scullers descended on the Thames for the Scullers Head of the River. Five Cantabs athletes braved the challenging conditions and cold weather, and all put in strong performances.

The Senior Men’s Squad entered two scullers. Jimmy Adams finished 4th in IM3.1x, 50th overall, in the process beating double Olympic champion James Cracknell, who came out of retirement to finish 53rd. Hadi Boukhatmi finished 10th in IM2.1x, 161st overall.

Georgie Plunkett was the sole entry from the Senior Women’s Squad, and put in an excellent performance to finish as the 12th fastest woman of the day, and the 2nd fastest non-Tideway based woman sculler. She finished 3rd in a strong W.IM3.lwt.1x category, the winner of which finished as the fastest woman of the day.

The club’s masters athletes were also well-represented, with Andrew Morley finishing 22nd in MasC.1x (316th overall), and Cecile Jacklin finished 8th in W.MasD.1x.
