2nd place finishes at Scullers Head 2019

There were good performances from Cantabs athletes racing at Scullers Head of the River, most of whom had never raced a 1x on the Tideway before.

There were two 2nd place finishes amongst the 10 entries. Georgie Plunkett raced well, but was narrowly edged out by a Thames sculler, to finish 2nd in the Women’s Senior event. Evelyn Svingen, racing on the Tideway for only the second time, had a superb race to finish 2nd in the Women’s Club Lightweight event, behind this year’s winner of the Elite Lightweight 2- at Henley Women’s Regatta.

2nd Club Lightweight

Debs Oakley did well to finish 4th in the Senior Lightweight event, though was disappointed to be impeded by a slower sculler.

William Woodard finished as the 19th J16 boy. Also racing on the Tideway for the first time ever was ChiYing Chen, who finished a commendable 3rd in the Women’s Club event.

4th & 5th Senior Lightweight Women

Andrew Morley raced well to finish 5th in Masters D, with Natasha Treagust also finishing 5th behind Debs in the Women’s Senior Lightweight event.

Jack Goode and Harry Turner finished 6th and 9th in Men’s Championship and Club Lightweight events, respectively. James Lindsay finished 11th in a competitive Masters A event.
