Good performances at Schools Head & Eights Head 2022

Tideway head season drew to a close, with racing for our junior and men’s crews.

Schools Head of the River Race

Cantabs sent its largest entry of 4 eights to race at SHORR this year – 3 girls’ and 1 boys’. Most of the Cantabs athletes racing are students at Hills Road Sixth Form College, with whom Cantabs has a partnership for their enrichment programme. You can read more about it here.

The boys raced well in the Schools 1st 8+ event to finish 16th. Over in the girls’ Schools 1st 8+ event, Cantabs finished in 10th place. The girls’ 2nd 8+ finished a 6th in their event, and a promising J16 girls’ 8+ finished 8th in their event.

Thank you to all junior parents and coaches for their support with this event.

Eights Head of the River Race

HORR saw a solid 67th place finish for Cantabs A. Starting low down in the start order, the crew raced well through 7 overtakes including great work from cox Laura Brightman during a 4-way overtake, to finish 7th in the Jackson.

Due to injury and illness, Cantabs B was a scratch combination who raced tenaciously, in what was the first Eights Head for most, to finish 215th.

Thank you again to our great hosts Putney Town RC.
