Wednesday 21st July saw the 3rd day of Bumps, with more exciting racing.
Wednesday was Division 3’s day off.
It was business as usual at the top of Women’s Division 1, as W1 (Senior Women) turned the race into a power piece to row over as Head of the River, racing along the Reach at around R20. Behind them, W2 (Senior Women) once again closed the gap on City W1 but it wasn’t enough for a bump.
In Division 2, W5 (Senior Women) bumped Champs W3 within 75 seconds. Not to be outdone, every other Cantabs women’s crew in this division also bumped! W6 (Junior Squad/Hills Road) bumped Chesterton W2, W7 (Intermediate Squad) bumped Nines W5 and W8 (J15/16 Juniors) bumped St Neots W2.
The Cantabs women’s crews went up 3 on Day 3, and are +14 for the week so far.
M1 (Senior Men) enjoyed a comfortable row over at Head after bumping Nines M1 off Headship on Tuesday.
Behind them, M2 (Senior Men) suffered a bump by City M1. Elsewhere, M3 (Hills Returners) rowed over and M4 (Hills Road) bumped City M3. After bumping into Division 1 on Wednesday, M5 (Aquaphobes) were unfortunately bumped back out again by City M4.
In Division 2, the Coaches (M6) delivered a thrilling race for spectators by getting overlap on City M6 before the A14 bridge, and maintaining that overlap until finally getting their bump just after Ditton Corner! M7 (Poachers) were overbumped by Nines M5 and M8 (Hills Road) rowed over.
The Cantabs men’s crews are currently level for the week.
