8 wins at Cambridge Winter Head

Running the event didn’t keep Cantabs crews from 8 wins at Winter Head, in men’s, women’s, junior and masters events.

It was another successful Cambridge Winter Head this weekend, with both visiting and local crews taking part in the largest head race on the River Cam.

Despite many club members sacrificing racing, so they could run the event, there were still some great performances.

The juniors continued their run of success in other on-Cam events so far this season, winning the girls’ J16 and J18 8+ events, with the boys racing against adults to win the Club B 8+ event. This was the first ever head race for some, and for others their first ever rowing win.

One outing after re-rigging their 8+ for the first time since Henley Royal Regatta, the Senior Men won the Club A 8+ event, finishing only a few seconds down on local opposition who have been regularly training in eights.

It was the second head race win on the trot for a Cantabs Women’s Masters 8+, with further women’s wins coming in two W4+ events (both the British Rowing and CRA events). Cantabs was also the fastest W4x of the day.

Thank you to all crews who took part and club members who helped the race run so smoothly. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
