Cantabs enjoyed a great weekend at British Masters in Nottingham, coming away with 6 medals out of the 10 events entered by crews from the Senior and Intermediate Squads.
The weekend got off to a great start with Lora Downes, Cam Lardy, Evie Nash and Evelyn Svingen taking the gold by less than 1 second in the Women's Nonchamp AB 4-. This was all the more impressive given the regatta marked Evelyn's first time in a boat since WEHORR, and the crew's first time in a coxless four!
The crew raced again in the afternoon, back with the safety of cox Maria Chukanova, and took a clear win in the Women's Nonchamp ABC 4+, with a crew from the Intermediate Squad racing well to finish 3rd.
ChiYing Chen took to the water to race the lightweight MasB singles event, and came away with a silver medal, and later won herself a bronze medal in the MasB doubles, teaming up with Jo Lee from X-Press BC. Cecile Jacklin was also racing in a composite with Ardingly, winning bronze in the MasF doubles.
On the Sunday, Gill Cooper and Judith Weik raced well to finish 2nd in the MasD pairs, with 2 more golds from a coxed/coxless fours combination.
Emily Wilks, Amanda Clarkson, Ellie Darlington and Becky Dell tempted cox Isabel Nimmo out of retirement on the day to win gold in the Women's Champ A/C 4+. They later returned to the familiarity of their 4- to win another gold in the equivalent coxless event.
Congratulations to all crews!
