Congratulations to John Hale for British Rowing Championships silver

This weekend was a successful weekend for John Hale, competing at the British Rowing Championships in the lightweight sculls category. In a fast heat, John led from start to finish to go straight through to the final, despite a strong challenge from Bexhill’s Mark Mitchell.

In the final on the Sunday, the normal Nottingham conditions had returned, with a strong headwind blowing down the course. Tom Hope (UTRC) led out from the start, and once again John found himself up against the Bexhill sculler, fighting for the silver medal. Despite a strong push from Mark Mitchell with 500m to go, John found enough to hold on for the medal.

John will now team up with the winning sculler, Tom Hope, to race the LM2x for England at the Home International Regatta next weekend (after town bumps of course!).
