Coaches

Coaches play a key role in the development of the club’s rowers.  Cantabs is fortunate to have a number of experienced, skilled coaches who help develop the potential of other club members. New coaches to support our growing membership are always welcome – please get in touch with the Club Captain using this link or via our Committee page.

Coach Development

Club members with an interest in coaching are encouraged to attend our monthly workshops, at which coaches can discuss their challenges and share ideas. These cover many aspects of coaching, sometimes featuring guest speakers from outside the club.

There are a number of opportunities to shadow more experienced coaches and to receive mentoring: many coaches are happy to be approached directly; if you need help getting in touch with someone, please contact the club captain or secretary.

For anyone interested in obtaining a British Rowing coaching qualification, please contact the club secretary, who can direct you to sources of funding and help with any questions.

BR’s Eastern Region Rowing Council has a Coaches Forum and run various Coach Development events. You can sign up for their newsletter on the ERRC website.

Communication

All Cantabs coaches should make sure they are on our Coaches mailing list to receive relevant information, including details of the Coaching Workshops. Please contact the club secretary to be added to the list.

Safeguarding

Anyone who will be regularly coaching juniors or vulnerable adults should speak to the Club Welfare Officer (via our Committee page), who will be able to arrange the necessary safeguarding checks, highlight relevant policies and answer any questions.

Current coaches
