Three Cantabs men’s crews raced at the 2023 Fairbairn Cup, winning the Invitational 8+.
The Senior Men had a good race, comfortably winning the Invitational 8+ event, and finishing 3rd overall, with only 2 seconds separating 1st and 3rd over the 5k course.
There was a good result from two masters crews. The Aquaphobes finished 7th in the invitational event, and the Harlequins 20th.
Unfortunately the Cantabs women were unable to race this year. However, this didn’t stop the Senior Women from racing the course at 6:50am instead! Despite having to take the rate to 22 on sections with houseboats so as not to cause any disturbances so early in the morning, the crews produced times which would have seen a comfortable overall victory in the W8+ and a win in the Invitational W4+.
